NME.COM: Billie Eilish’s debut is NME’s Album Of The Year 2019. Duh. The LA teenager started the year as a cult hero and finished it as the most-talked about musician in recent times, brandishing a brand-new sound and all the makings of a true once-in-a-generation star. Thomas Smith speaks to the 17-year-old about her triumphant year, coping with fame and how she’s going to follow this one up.

Two years ago this month, NME met Billie Eilish for the first time, backstage at Brooklyn’s 280-capacity venue Baby’s All Right. Calm, collected and staggeringly cool, the then-15 year-old put the heebie-jeebies into us – barely a teenager, she already had wisdom beyond her age, and it felt abundantly clear we were meeting with a future superstar. As her ‘Don’t Smile At Me’ EP was gaining steam, we asked if she was ready for the fame coming her way. “The attention doesn’t scare me,” she said. “Nothing really scares me, to be honest.”

If her 2019 is anything to go by, every other artist should have the fear running through them. She’s entering the next decade comfortably perched on pop music’s highest throne, just like she promised on ‘You Should See Me In A Crown’. Good luck wrestling it from her.

The musical collaboration between Billie Eilish and Rosalía is still in the works, it just isn’t quite finished yet, according to Rosalía herself. During an interview with Billboard at the magazine’s Women In Music event on Thursday evening, the singer gave an update about the highly anticipated project.

“We’ve been in the studio, we’re friends,” Rosalía said. “Billie, please, let’s finish that song! I love Billie, she knows it. I wish that we had more time to be in the studio… We started something, we gotta finish it.” Though it doesn’t sound like there’s any firm plan to wrap it up ASAP, at least they’re keeping the project’s energy alive. Previously, Rosalía said of the song, “Billie and I had a session together, totally independent from her other projects. We wrote with her at the piano. We created a great idea for a song and had a great time.”

Both artists have been very busy, to say the least, so it’s understandable that they haven’t had a moment to reconnect. Back in March, Eilish began the buzz around the collab when she told Billboard, “We only had one session and it was, like, right before I left for tour. And then she’s been on tour; I’ve been on tour….We’ve been busy.” She added, “I actually love the song. It’s half in Spanish — for both of us — half in English. Yeah, it’s so beautiful. I hope something happens with it. I’m sure it will. We’re both in love with it. So, I think there’s a future for it.”

Billie Eilish and Alicia Keys are taking their mutual love to a whole other level.

On December 9, when Alicia was filling in for James Corden on The Late Late Show, the two singers performed a stripped-down rendition of Billie’s breakthrough hit “ocean eyes.”

“We need some dramatic lighting,” Alicia said before unveiling her piano and kicking off the song. The duet version featured Alicia on the piano (sorry, Finneas!) and mixed both singers’ honeyed vocals to perfection, making it the collab we never knew we needed.

Back in August, Alicia posted a piano cover of the song to her IGTV. “Billie Eilish giving me all the feels … Keep shining mama, writing that truth,” she wrote back then. “I’m a super, super fan of yours — I love how you write, I love your music,” Alicia told Billie on the show.

And it turns out, the love was very much reciprocal. “I have adored you my whole life,” Billie told Alicia before sharing a throwback clip of her 12-year-old self covering Alicia’s 2001 hit “Fallin’” — also at her piano. To further commemorate the occasion, Billie also posted a few of the snippets from their respective covers on her Instagram, writing, “CRAAAAZY full circle moment… love you so much @aliciakeys thank you for everything you are, can’t believe any of this happened. you in my heart forevaaaaa.”

“You got one for me and I got one for you. We’re going to do the next one soon,” Alicia told Billie after watching the adorable clip. And you can bet we’ll take her up on that one.

Outspoken vegan Billie Eilish will be honored for her activism at PETA’s 14th annual Libby Awards.

The 17-year-old songstress was honored with the Best Voice for Animals award, as she often shares with her millions of Instagram followers how animals suffer when they’re used and killed for fashion.

Other winners of the night included Stanger Things star Millie Bobby Brown and Fuller House actor Juan Pablo Di Pace. “Billie Eilish, Millie Bobby Brown, and Juan Pablo Di Pace are showing the world how easy it is to help animals by making kind choices in what we eat, what we wear, and how we entertain ourselves,” PETA Senior Director of Youth Programs Marta Holmberg said in a statement. “PETA is recognizing them for using their star power to make the world a better place for all species.”

PETA’s Libby Awards (“Libby” is short for “liberation”), recognizes the powerful young animal rights advocates.

In a new CBS Sunday Morning interview, six-time Grammy nominee Billie Eilish talked about her body image and how it has affected her sense of style.

“Me and my body’s relationship has been the most toxic relationship you could even imagine,” Eilish said to Gayle King. “The way that I’ve dressed has made that relationship so much better.”

The singer went on to explain why she prefers wearing looser-fitting clothes.

“It’s less about, ‘My body is ugly, I don’t want you to see it,’” Eilish said. “It’s more like, ‘I’m not comfortable wearing this. I’m comfortable wearing this.’ And I don’t mean, like, physically, literally, feels soft. I mean, like, your mental comfort.”

Eilish also talked to CBS about the perception that her music is “dark” or “sad,” adding that those descriptors aren’t the way her loved ones see her.

“Nobody that knows me thinks I’m a dark person. My God. I’m, like, always laughing at everything,” Eilish told King, who asked if the singer considers herself a “dark person.”

The “Bad Guy” singer has been open about depression in the past, talking about her experience with self-harm during a panel at the Grammy Museum in September. Eilish is in a better place now, though, saying at the time that “the last two months of my life, right now, have been the happiest places I’ve ever been in,” Variety reported.

In CBS’s new report, Eilish’s mom, Maggie, also talked about her 17-year-old daughter’s clinical depression.

“The depression was the hardest part of all this. We checked in with her all the time about, ‘Do you still want to do this? Do you want to do this?'” her mom said to CBS. “She loved doing the shows. That’s what kept her going.”

Billie Eilish has told how she was choked and people grabbed her chest during a scary encounter with fans in the US.

The 17-year-old music sensation told Variety magazine that she felt as if she was being “attacked” as she tried to make her way through the crowd in Austin, Texas, where she had performed at the Austin City Limits festival.

Eilish said: “It sounds weird to say, because if you (go into a crowd) you’re gonna get that reaction, and that’s totally fine and I expect it.

“But today, jeez, somebody choked me, and they pulled my arms so hard that security was literally tugging me away.

“People were pulling my hair; somebody stole my ring; they were grabbing my chest and parts of me that, like, I don’t need people grabbing!”

The singer said although she understands that the fans were just excited to see her, it is still something that she has to live with.

Eilish has previously been open about the downside to her success, telling Rolling Stone magazine earlier this year that there was a time when she was so anxious before heading out on tour that she threw up.

She said: “I just couldn’t take the fact that I had to leave again. It felt like an endless limbo. Like there was no end in sight.”

She added: “Thinking about that literally made me throw up. I’m not a throw-upper, but I threw up twice, from the anxiety.”

Eilish released her debut studio album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, this year and it went to number one in several countries including the US and the UK.

Her singles include Bad Guy, Bury A Friend and Everything I Wanted.

This post is about Billie Eilish paying tribute to the legend, the icon, and the pop diva that is Britney Spears.

On Friday, the “xanny” singer performed at iHeartRadio’s annual Jingle Ball, but it was her outfit that had everyone’s attention. As you can see, Billie wore a t-shirt and shorts with Britney’s face all over it.

The sleeves of her t-shirt also featured images of the “Circus” singer and spelled out her name, so it’s safe to say Billie might just be a stan.

(CNN) Don’t shame people who don’t know Van Halen.

That’s the message straight from Eddie Van Halen’s son.
Wolfgang Van Halen, who also plays bass in his dad’s band, is taking up for current music phenom Billie Eilish.
Eilish, 17, caused a stir recently during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
Kimmel asked her to name some members of the famed band.
“Who?,” she said. “No, who is that?”
“I’m gonna start crying,” Kimmel joked.
The internet also had feelings.
“Billie Eilish didn’t know who Van Halen was, I’m sobbing,” one person jokingly tweeted.
The younger Van Halen tweeted about it Monday and he’s not bothered.
“If you haven’t heard of @billieeilish, go check her out. She’s cool,” he tweeted. “If you haven’t heard of @VanHalen, go check them out. They’re cool too.”
Van Halen, 28, added “Music is supposed to bring us together, not divide us. Listen to what you want and don’t shame others for not knowing what you like.”
For the record, Eilish also didn’t know who Huey Lewis and Run DMC are, what a Cabbage Patch doll is or what you should never do to a Mogwai after midnight (unless you want it to turn into a gremlin).

Billie Eilish might be getting a whopping $25 million for a documentary with Apple TV+.

The currently untitled project has reportedly already been shot, following the 17-year-old “Bad Guy” singer in her private moments with family and friends after the March release of her debut studio album, “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”

However, a rep for Eilish tells The Post the deal isn’t finalized yet.

The green-haired singing sensation recently made headlines for her lack of knowledge about Van Halen. But many argued that she doesn’t need to know about the rock band — in her young career, she already has four platinum singles in the US and a slew of Grammy nominations.

This won’t be the star’s first collaboration with Apple — she’s already been crowned Apple Music’s Artist of the Year.

Although Apple Music has released documentaries on other pop stars such as Taylor Swift (“The 1989 World Tour Live”) and Ed Sheeran (“Songwriter”), this will be on their new TV platform rather than Apple Music, joining the ranks of shows such as M. Night Shyamalan’s “Servant” and the Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon headliner “The Morning Show.”

Apple TV+’s documentaries are still in their nascent stage, with only one available on the service so far (“The Elephant Queen,” a nature doc about an elephant herd), but several documentaries produced by Oprah Winfrey are on the slate.

The Billie Eilish documentary is expected on Apple TV+ in 2020.
